XLink Kai was first released in 2003, supporting the Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube at launch, with PSP, PS3, Xbox 360 and others. We support operating systems that not even Microsoft and Apple themselves support anymore, such as macOS on PowerPC Macs, and RetroArch being available on Windows OSes as far back as Windows 95. Sounds strange, but consider the following: Besides your backwards compatible Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Original Xbox titles, you now have access to a vast array of emulators that let you get back to games that are likely older than you. After a few years, I went back to revisit how Original Xbox emulation is looking on the PC, and the results surprised me. XLink Kai is a multi-platform and peer-to-peer LAN tunneling service which enables users to play local area network and ad-hoc multiplayer games on their consoles online with people all over the world. RetroArch can run on the usual platforms like Windows, macOS and Linux, but it stands alone in that it can support far more platforms beyond just that.
